People from Ghana sitting around the table following an online training on the screen

It was good to do an online Intercultural Management Workshop for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France-Ghana. Managing Director Armelle Sae-Jeanne was inspired to write the following words on LinkedIn:

“No, I could not complete this assignment on time I was not feeling well, I had dirrhea this morning.”

“You’re growing fat, life is good.”

These sentences that could be off-putting to a French ear are totally normal in a Ghanaian environment.

CCI France Ghana’s team had the pleasure to attend a training given by Alette Vonk, expert in intercultural management.

We often forget that working in a multicultural environment gives way to miscommunications & misunderstanding simply due to cultural differences.
Before judging, acting rashly, demeaning people, always ask yourself where they’re coming from. Why they see and act the way they do. Our culture is so engraved in us that we fail to understand that this social construct varies from one country to another.
I can only encourage and recommend these initiatives that help us better understand and work with one another.
Thank you Alette!
